The U.S. Small Business Administration presents: A Workforce Development Training Series to improve the way your business manages your workforce, stays compliant and creates a thriving work environment for employees.
11:00am – 11:45am: Session 1 – Top HR Issues Business Owners Face and How to Solve Them – This seminar provides you with a high-level overview of the top 10 human-resource-related issues experienced by businesses today. Topics include job descriptions, Form I-9, employee classifications, payment for overtime hours, handbook policies, workplace harassment, the Family and Medical Leave Act, health care reform, employment-at-will, and anti-discrimination.
12noon – 12:45pm: Session 2 – The Employee Life-cycle: Interviewing, Hiring and What Comes Next – This session will discuss effective hiring practices and identify essential steps and best practices for an effective hiring process. We will also discuss progressive discipline and how it can be used to deal with employee performance issues and policy violations. We’ll also review some legal issues employers may encounter with respect to terminations.
2:15pm – 3:00pm: Session 3 – Managing Five Generations in the Workplace – Multiple generations of workers are currently in the workplace and they all have different working styles. In this program, participants will learn and understand the differences in generations and how managers and business owners can leverage these differences for increased effectiveness.
3:15pm – 4:00pm: Session 4 – Gain Control of Succession Planning for Your Business – Are you and your business prepared for the future? Join legal and finance professionals to learn how to build a systematic process for a smooth transition and protect the value of the assets you have built.
4:15pm – 5:00pm: Session 5 – An Introduction to Diversity, Inclusion & Equality Executive Training Program
